Reducing the burden on First Nations Staff -
Managing the details so you don’t have to
First Nations leaders, administrators, public works staff, and project coordinators are responsible for a wide range of priorities. Major capital projects can place significant additional demands on already busy teams - getting funding for a large new project doesn’t mean your day job has stopped.
Kelsey Project Management helps lighten that burden. We take on the day-to-day coordination, communication, and oversight required to keep projects moving forward, allowing community staff to focus on serving their communities. We help navigate complexities, anticipate challenges, and provide practical guidance throughout the process.
Our goal is simple: to make project delivery easier, less stressful, and more successful for the communities we serve.
Building Projects that Matter
Community infrastructure projects are more than construction projects. They are investments in the health, safety, well-being, and future of First Nations communities.
Whether it's a water treatment facility, piping, fire hall, school, community building, road improvement, or other essential infrastructure, these projects require careful planning, strong coordination, and effective management to move from concept to completion.
Kelsey Project Management works alongside First Nations leadership, administration, tribal councils, technical teams, consultants, and contractors to guide projects through every stage of delivery. We help navigate funding requirements, manage project risks, coordinate stakeholders, and keep projects moving forward from initial planning through successful project completion. We provide practical, hands-on project management support focused on achieving successful outcomes for communities.
What We Do
Project Management Services
We provide hands-on project management services for community infrastructure and capital projects, helping guide projects through planning, design, procurement, construction, and close-out. Acting as an extension of your team, we coordinate consultants, contractors, funding agencies, and stakeholders while helping to keep projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with community goals.
Funding Application Assistance
Securing funding is often the first step in making a project a reality. We work with communities to identify funding opportunities, develop strong applications, prepare supporting documentation, and coordinate with funding agencies. Our goal is to help communities secure the resources needed to advance priority projects.
This includes working with ISC through their funding process (PARs) and regular follow-up with your community CMO and Engineer, to try to make sure funding is there for design, and to minimize the wait time for design projects to be submitted for construction.
In addition to funding from ISC, Tricia has worked on numerous other successful funding applications with other funding stakeholders - Tricia has authored 29 successful funding applications to funders outside of ISC (NOHFC, GICB, ICIP, CWWF, CSICP, CHIF, and Build Communities Strong), worth $113 million in capital funding for First Nation projects.
Training
We deliver practical training for communities on topics such as project management, capital planning, funding processes, procurement, and contract administration. The goal of the training is to provide practical knowledge and tips for staff who are new to managing large, multi-million dollar capital projects. Training is tailored to your community's needs and designed to provide tools and knowledge that can be applied immediately. Training is offered in-community.
Consistent and Experienced Leadership
Throughout Your Project
Major capital projects are complex enough without having to re-explain project history, priorities, and decisions to different team members throughout the project.
When you work with Kelsey Project Management, you work directly with Tricia Hamilton throughout the life of your project. From initial planning and funding discussions to design, procurement, construction, and project closeout, you have a consistent point of contact who understands your project's history, priorities, and challenges. There are no layers of management, no transitions between project managers, and no hand-offs to junior staff. The person providing strategic advice is the same person coordinating meetings, reviewing project deliverables, monitoring risks, and helping resolve issues.
The result is better continuity, clearer communication, and a trusted relationship built over the course of the project.
